Exactly what happens, start to finish

Nobody likes contractor surprises. Here's every step, who shows up, what we need from you, and what you're left holding at the end.

Step one

You get in touch

Book online — it takes about a minute. Tell us what you're after and add photos if it's a small job; that alone is often enough for us to price it.

During office hours you'll usually hear back within the hour. Nobody gets left waiting on a reply. Not getting back to people is the most common complaint about this trade, and an easy one to avoid.

We'll ask what you're after and find a consultation time that works for you. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

What we'll ask you

  • Interior, exterior, cabinets, or a bit of everything
  • Roughly how many rooms, or the size of the property
  • Whether you have a deadline — a closing, a listing, a family visit
  • A good time to walk it with you

What we won't do is put you through a qualifying script or ask for your budget before we've seen the job.

Step two

The consultation — and your exact price

No more than 90 minutes. Free, and no obligation.

We walk it together

You show us what's bothering you. We look at condition, not just size — the state of the surfaces drives the price far more than square footage does.

We measure everything

Every wall, ceiling and trim run gets measured properly. Guessing is how quotes end up needing to be “revised” later.

We price it on site

Measurements go into our measurement-based estimating software, which calculates labor and materials on the spot from your home's real dimensions.

You get the number

Written and final — before we leave your driveway, and good for 60 days. Emailed to you as well so you can share it with whoever else needs to see it.

And you can book on the spot

Most people have everything they need by the end of the consultation, so we can get your date on the calendar there and then. Your price is good for 60 days either way — no pressure, no phoning you every afternoon for a week. If you have questions first, the FAQ covers most of them.

Step three

We paint. You carry on with your life.

  • Day one starts with protection. Furniture moved and covered, floors masked, adjoining rooms sealed off before any prep begins.
  • Prep takes most of the time. That's normal and it's the point — filling, sanding, caulking and priming is what makes the finish last.
  • You get an update at the end of each day — what got done, what's next, anything we found. Photos if you're not there.
  • We clean up every evening. Not at the end of the week. You get your home back each night.
  • You always know who's in your home. It's our own crew, introduced to you before the first day, not a rotating cast of subcontractors.
Step four

The final inspection

When we think it's finished, we walk it with you — properly, in daylight, in every room. You bring a critical eye. This is the part where you're supposed to be picky.

Anything you're not happy with — a thin spot, a line that isn't crisp, a bit of trim we missed — we fix. Then we walk it again.

You do not pay until you are 100% satisfied with the work. We will do a final walk around in reasonable conditions, including natural lighting, and only then is the balance due. Settling up is deliberately easy, and it's the amount you were quoted, not a penny more: card, ACH, check or digital payment, whichever suits you.

What you're left with

  • A finish you've inspected yourself and signed off on
  • A final walk around in reasonable conditions, including natural lighting
  • Your home cleaned up and put back the way you had it
  • A number you can call with questions about the finish, however long afterwards
  • A refer-a-friend credit simply for referring a friend to us
